Diana Lui

Diana Lui - Acupuncturist & Chinese Medicine Practitioner

Having grown up with Chinese medicine (her father is also a Chinese medicine practitioner), Diana was inspired to take the same path when she saw the tremendous results for patients who didn’t respond to conventional treatment. Diana graduated with Distinction in Chinese Medicine and Human Biology from RMIT, then completed her clinical internship at Nanjing’s prestigious Jiangsu Provincial Hospital. With a growing interest in pain management and musculoskeletal conditions, she is also completing her studies in Myotherapy to complement her acupuncture skills.

Diana’s other special interests include digestive complaints, stress relief, hormonal conditions and herbal medicine. Diana’s philosophy: Chinese medicine is both a science and an art – the more you delve into it, the more you gain from it. She is constantly seeking to improve her treatment skills and keeps abreast of the latest research in order to provide quality care to her patients.

What you can expect at viva

On the day

On the day you visit us, please bring comfortable clothing. A singlet for shoulder and upper limb injuries and shorts for lower limb or lower back injuries will greatly enhance our ability to assess your problem area. If your injury is related to walking or running, it is also worth bringing your runners because we have a treadmill to help us analyse your biomechanics.

What to expect

Your appointment will last for 30 minutes (above and beyond the 15-20 minute industry standard) and in this time you will be assessed thoroughly by your physiotherapist to determine the source of your pain and the cause of the dysfunction.

Treatment

Treatment will consist of a combination of hands-on therapy, postural education, sports rehabilitation and exercise, depending on the diagnosis and your personal goals.

Accounts

We ask that your account be settled on the day of treatment via cash or EFTPOS. We use the HICAPS system for those with private health insurance, where you can claim your rebate immediately and just pay the gap. For those under compensable schemes (such as Workcover, TAC or DVA), we can liaise with the appropriate body directly.

Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine

The ancient skill of Chinese Medicine dates back to 200AD during the Han Dynasty. Practice includes the use of herbs, acupuncture and moxibustion to treat various forms of disease and common conditions.

Physiotherapy and acupuncture have converged through the use of dry needling, which refers to the use of needles to treat myofascial trigger points and pain. This is common practice in the physiotherapy skill-set and is commonly seen as the treatment of choice for certain musculoskeletal conditions.

In order to provide the most specific treatment for your musculoskeletal or systemic conditions, Viva Physiotherapy have appointed Diana Lui, Chinese Medicine Practitioner and Acupuncturist. These techniques are very successfully used in the treatment of headaches, back pain, pregnancy-related problems, RSI from computer use, stomach and digestive problems and stress-related disorders.
